Robby Reis

Montreal artist, film-maker, photographer and all-round good-guy, Robby Reis has produced so much work for SNAP! from photo, illustration and typography to writing and shooting two covers - a feat that no other contributor can claim to date.

All this gives old Bobby legendary status chez SNAP! but his talents go far beyond our humble pages. Robby's recently completed short film Suha (a fictional drama centred on the life of a young female graffiti artist in Montreal) was shown at the MoMa in New York City early in 2010. At the end of last year Robby also had his first solo show at local gallery the Emporium. Titled Purgatory or Some Place Like It, the collection was made up of a number of graphic prints and illustrations that used religious iconography and symbolism to express his transition from the more informal environment of street and basement to the professional world of studio and gallery.
