Nik Mirus

A favourite at SNAP! Winnipeg-born Nik is a member of Montreal photo collective Made of Stills (along with other SNAP! alumni Simon Duhamel and Maxyme G Delisle) and has contributed photos to issues 4, 6, 7 and 14 to date.

Soft-spoken and humble, Nik has received considerable acclaim for his work over the years since graduating from Dawson's Institute of photography, including being named one of the winners in The Magenta Foundation's Flash Forward international competition for two years in a row. Nik had a solo show for his series 'People and Quiet Spaces' at the Visual Voice Gallery in 2009 which put into a spotlight his highly stylized and dramatic imagery as well as his ability to use light and composition to create a powerful sense of narrative and emotion. This was followed by a show in early 2011 for his ongoing Subliminal Pink series, and was very well received, only further peaking the interest of many in Montreal's artistic community. You can see some of Nik's work on the site of his collective.
