Jean Malek

Now represented by La Cavelerie, Montreal photographer and film-maker Jean Malek first contributed work to SNAP! with a playful locker room editorial for the Crowds issue in Spring 2010.

His second contribution was a photo story inspired by cult film Secretary and was staged in the old Montreal print studio Lovell Litho & Publications inc. Having produced a considerable wealth of commercial work with clients like Adidas and Nightlife magazine, Jean has also developed numerous personal and conceptual projects and shows great potential as a story-teller and film-maker. Recently awarded the winner of first prize for best Canadian short in the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, Jean's first short Les Poissons was also screened at the Cannes film festival and in Toronto June 2010.

On his way to becoming one of Montreal's top artists in his field, Jean balances a serious and driven attitude to his work with an affable and upbeat personality. This boy wonder is going places, and we are happy to have crossed his path.
