Party like it's 1699

242 Young St.
Montreal, Quebec
Party like it's 1699 is a postmodern baroque spectacle. These 3 nights of lavish old-school classical fun get our 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Expect 18th century music, couture dresses, edgy choreography and your talented hostess model Irina Lazareanu (Karl Lagerfeld's muse).
Driven by fashion, art, music, culture and reckless abandon of our parents’ values, we are the youth! Though we’ve got the Arcade Fire and skinny jeans, and the kids of the 17th century were more into powdered wigs and Jean-Baptiste Lully, youth culture in both centuries are an awful lot alike.
Party like it’s 1699 is a postmodern-baroque spectacle that fuses both centuries’ visions of youth culture; a cabaret show combining elements of music, contemporary dance, visual art, poetry and fashion, from the brightest talents of the Montréal scene. This production envisions history through the simultaneously critical and fawning eyes of Aleks Schürmer and his ensemble les tabarnaks
d’époque.
I don't care what you're doing - get yourself down there for at least one night! We have a double pass to give away so drop us a line at info[at]snapme.ca to get your hands on it!
August 3-5th, doors at 8pm. $10 a night - near Bonaventure Metro station.
