Montreal Vacant Spaces
Posted on June 19th, 2009
What was most recently an American Apparel store on lower St Laurent is currently a vacant retail space. I'd walked past the empty store front in daylight and hadn't really looked twice at the windows. Covered in a scratched black out, the store front is unassuming by day, but by night these windows looks phenomenal.
With lighting from within, the sketchy patterns really stand out. Just another example of an unwillingness to accept monotony in our shared spaces. Only in Montreal.
On the door was an arrow pointing to the name Nadine Faraj, so if this is her work, thank you for sharing it with us.
Love, SNAP!
and Kate :)

Dear Kate,
Thank you so much for your comments! I have updated my blog now so you can check out images of similar projects. By the way, since this first installation I made in April 2009 both UMA and Image In Situ started projects to fill more vacant storefronts with artwork (www.umamontreal.com (see À LOUER); www.imageinsitu.ca)
