Suoni per il Popolo '08

Sala Rosa presents the 2008 'Suoni per il Popolo' - a festival of avant garde and experimental liberation music (sounds exciting, right?).
The festival runs from June 1 - June 30th with highlights including:
'A Silver Mount Zion' - a group led by forming members of 'Godspeed You Black Emperor.' The band is now made up of 7 musicians and is labeled (cause we all need labels) as 'an uncompromising redefinition of punk-rock protest music' (and I thought it was just 'post-rock').
'Excepter' 'a six-person noise-improv musical group from Brooklyn, is an electronic performance group devoted to the destruction of boundaries between the psychic friends network and reality television. Excepter is the last living non-linear, anti-tribal protest band mutineered to destroy prison music through both misery and ecstasy' (http://www.casadelpopolo.com).
'Retribution Gospel Choir' which 'plays loud and sings in key. Live, two minute pop songs run into psychedelic improvisations and drum-n-bass-heavy dub. People sometimes think the band is too loud or that they should take turns soloing, but generally, people are pleasantly surprised' (http://www.casadelpopolo.com).
