E3 update with Alex Chinien

The first day the show floor was open was a busy one.  Nintendo and Sony both had their press conferences in the morning and at noon the show floor opened up.  By three o'clock I had walked around and seen everything but had no time to play anything.

Some of the major games being shown included a HUGE lineup of gamers waiting to try God of War for the PS3, Batman Arkham Asylum, Beatles Rock Band (including appearances by paul mccartney, ringo star and yoko ono) and DJ Hero.

There was a really bad pop rock band that played a show in support of the kid's MMORPG Freerealms and mashup DJ Z Trip showed up to demonstrate DJ Hero to the crowd.  I was able to get my hands on some games in the second half of the day, most notably Tim Schafer's Brutal Legend.  I played it on the playstation 3 and it was alot of fun.  Between fire and electricity attacks with your guitar, you get an axe, a girlfriend and a car.

I played some of inFamous as well.  The climb anywhere approach of the world works especially well, but the combat system was somewhat difficult for me to figure out.  Maybe I just need some more time with it.  On Nintendo's side I played Super Mario Bros Wii which was alot of fun (allowing up to 4 players in adventure mode) it plays like Little Big Planet actually.

I also played Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort, which didn't surprise me but didn't disappoint either.  It's more of the same from nintendo first party family games.  Something for everyone and they feel like they'll be a lot more fun when paired with alcohol.
