Nouveau Cinema Festival Ticket Giveaway

Across Montreal, Quebec
The Festival du Nouveau Cinema is on! Here are some of our favourite picks:
- This year's Temps Zero section is packed with mind-bending movies from renowned directors that will make the next two weeks of grey Fall hell a little more surreal.
Enter the Void
The new hallucinogenic journey into the human psyche from the director of Irreversible and Seul Contres Tous (Gaspar Noe) was given a standing ovation for several minutes at the Cannes Film Festival and seems to be one of the most visually impressive movies created to date. A love story between two junkies in Tokyo with a soundtrack by Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk); really what more do you want. Don’t forget your acid. (Saturday 16th 9.45pm)
Balada Triste
If you liked Perdita Durango and El Dia de la Bestia be sure not to miss the latest creation by Mr. de la Iglesia. This one seems to go back to his roots with an over-the-top ‘bloodthirsty, radical extravaganza.’ One scene features a clown dressed like a priest robbing a store: do you really need to know more to make you get off your ass and see it? (Sunday 17th 7.00pm)
Kaboom
Finally Greg Arraki made another movie about young hot bitches doing drugs and f*$%ing. This time Kaboom is described as a sort of Clueless on acid where the main character is a bisexual guy that is high most of the movie. It might as well be set in Montreal. (Monday 18th 7.30pm)
Confessions and Territoires
Continuing the tradition of Japanese and French ultra-violence set by movies like Battle Royale and Martyrs these two movies will bring to the festival some heart-warming sadism and gore. (Confessions at Sunday 17th 10.00pm and Territoires at Friday 22nd 5.30pm)
If you get bored with the Temps Zero selection:
Biutiful
The new movie by Iñárritu starring Javier Bardem won best actor in the Cannes Film Festival and this time was created in Spanish (thank god). Undoubtedly this will be a super deep melodrama that will give you huge insight into human complexity. I wouldn’t bring acid to this one. (Sunday 17th at 7.00pm)
L.A. Zombie
If you are into guy-on-guy action (who isn’t? ) the new movie by Bruce LaBruce will deliver plenty of anal intercourse, set in the context of a zombie gorefest movie. It will be interesting to see how he will redefine the zombie genre using famous gay pornstars and homoerotic humor without looking cheesy. (Wednesday 22nd 9.45pm)
Año Bisiesto
The first movie by Mexico-based Australian director Michael Rowe won this year's Caméra d'or at Cannes. Anything that is Mexican with lots of nudity is cool. (Sunday 24th 7.45pm)
All films have two screening times so check their site for full details.
